General Questions

What is MusicMatrix?

MusicMatrix.com is a fully integrated social community which allows users to participate in music video editing competitions in order to win both prizes and recognition. Using its cutting-edge, innovative, and simple, easy-to-use platform, MusicMatrix.com facilitates video uploading, editing, sharing and viewing experiences. In addition, users not interested in editing music videos will be given incentive to drive traffic to the site and promote the featured artist or song.

How does MusicMatrix work?

MusicMatrix.com will hold periodic music video editing competitions where premium members will be able to “remix” a particular music video in order to put a different spin on it. MusicMatrix partners with record labels to determine each promotion's launch date and duration. Once an artist's promotion has been scheduled, the label will provide MusicMatrix with the library of files to be used. The library will consist of the audio file of the featured song as well as all picture and video files which premium members can utilize in making their remix. Premium members will have access to the library within their MusicMatrix profile for competition purposes only, and will not be able to download any of the files directly to their computer.

The rules and terms of each competition will be agreed upon by the label and posted in the promotion section of the site.

The premium member will log into their account and access the promotion page where they can begin working on their remix. Using MusicMatrix’s built-in video editor, premium members will be able to perform all remix functions and save their work. Once complete, the premium member will upload the video into the competition section, where it will be viewed by other users on the site. The Top Rated Videos section of the site will show the top 4 videos at any point in time. This will be based on the videos current rating and the amount of views. At the end of the competition, the winning video will be showcased on the MusicMatrix home page and will also be placed on the home page of that artist's website.

How much does it cost to use MusicMatrix?

MusicMatrix offers the following 3 memberships: Free, Gold, and Platinum. Free members will be able to create a profile, vote on videos, post comments, and receive updates on new videos and active projects, all at no cost. Premium members (i.e. Gold and Platinum) will each be able to participate in the MVP program, where they will earn $5 per month for signing up other premium members. They will also have full access to our video editor and be able to compete in the video editing contests. Gold members will pay $9.99 per month and will be given 5GB of space. Platinum members will pay $14.99 per month and will be given 10GB of space

How do I use categories?

When you upload a video, you assign it to the specific category that you see on the site.

Your Profile and Preferences

How do I change my profile image?

You can upload and change your profile image within the profile information section of your preferences. Click browse to select an image from your computer to upload, and save when finished. Please note that it may take a few minutes for changes to your profile to appear on the site.

How do I cancel my account?

We'd hate to see you go, but if you'd like to cancel your account, please email us at support@MusicMatrix.com and we'll take care of it for you.

Uploading

How do I upload my video?

Uploading your video to MusicMatrix couldn't be easier. Just click "Upload" at the top of any page and follow the instructions.

What kind of videos can I submit?

We have a size restriction of 5GB per file and we can't accept anything illegal or obscene or similarly objectionable, including content that contains hate speech, infringes copyright, and/or violates personal privacy or obscenity laws and/or which we deem inappropriately offensive. MusicMatrix does not allow pornography. We accept the following formats:

Is there a limit on the number of videos I can upload?

Gold members will be limited to a total of 5GB of space and Platinum members will be limited to a total of 10GB of space. The size of each video will determine how many you can upload.

Where is my video after upload?

Your video will go into your channel once it is uploaded. If you are in the process of editing it, and you do not want to share it with the community yet, simply click “private” and you will be the only person able to view it. Keep in mind, our content reviewers scan every video in an effort to protect against copyright violations and other illegal content, so videos in violation will be removed.

Can I upload works to MusicMatrix in languages other than English?

Absolutely. MusicMatrix accepts videos in any language.

Is adult content allowed on MusicMatrix?

While MusicMatrix does allow some content typical of an R rating by MPAA standards, MusicMatrix does not allow any content it deems obscene or hateful. Pornography is not allowed.

How long will my materials be stored?

Your videos will remain on MusicMatrix as long as they are not violating our terms of service and as long as your account remains active. You can remove them from the system at any time.

How do I delete a video?

To delete a video, navigate to your account and click on the video you want to delete. Check the delete box at the bottom of the page and click save to confirm video delete. After a few minutes, the video will be deleted from the system. This cannot be undone, so be careful!

Sharing

How do I share MusicMatrix videos?

The MusicMatrix system is built on sharing. You don't have to be a video creator to participate. You can share MusicMatrix videos on your blog, social networking profile, via email or instant message, peer to peer networks, etc.

How can I embed videos in my blog, on social networking sites, etc?

Every video on MusicMatrix includes lots of sharing options including "grab codes" in several formats which you can embed in many locations.

Where can I share MusicMatrix videos?

You can share MusicMatrix videos wherever you like. They can be emailed, downloaded, embedded into your blog or your social networking profile. Here is a list of a few MusicMatrix-friendly sites:

Making Money with Membership

How do I earn money?

In order to earn money, you must be a registered premium member (i.e. Gold or Platinum). In order to earn money, you must bring others to MusicMatrix and once they register as premium members you will receive $5 per month, for each month their account remains active.

How much money can I earn?

There is no limit to the amount of money you can earn on MusicMatrix. The more premium members you sign up, the more money you earn.

Can I have more than one account for submitting videos to MusicMatrix.com?

Yes, but you cannot receive MusicMatrix.com Membership Account Rewards© earnings from two different MusicMatrix.com accounts to one payment account. If you open two MusicMatrix Accounts and have videos in each, you will have to register twice for payment, supplying different payment account information each time.

When do my video’s views begin to count?

Views start counting the moment you click the button uploading your video to MusicMatrix.com.

Are my MusicMatrix earnings taxable?

The Internal Revenue Service of the US Government requires anyone being paid more than $600 by a US company to fill out a W-9 form for US citizens (W-8 form for international citizens) for tax purposes. As you near $600 in earnings, MusicMatrix will send the appropriate form to the email address listed in your profile, and you will need to fill it out and return it in order to continue to receive payments. Directions for returning the completed form will be included in the message. Once we've received the form we will send you a confirmation message and you will continue to be paid as usual. At the end of the year, you will receive a IRS form1099 for your own reporting purposes.

Can I use Music in my videos?

The sites listed below offer royalty-free music that is totally free. Please make sure to pay special attention to the stipulations of any Creative Commons-licensed music, as certain CC licenses require attribution to the original author or prohibit commercial use of the material.

How do I Watch videos?

To watch a video on MusicMatrix, you will need to download and install the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player. Video doesn't play in the MusicMatrix Player. If you are having trouble getting video to play, try deleting your cookies.

How do I delete my cookies?

To delete cookies, go to your browser's preferences/options and go to the cookies section.

Why are some videos Blurry?

The quality of videos is relative to the speed of your modem. If you are using a 56k modem to access MusicMatrix, your connection speed may be too slow to get a high-quality video stream; therefore the film may appear blurry or be delivered like a filmstrip instead of a movie.

Can I download the films on MusicMatrix.com?

What is Streaming?

The term "streaming" refers to files that are designed to play as they download without the need to complete the download before you begin playing it. These streaming files are specially encoded and delivered from high-performance streaming servers. The whole process is designed to let you enjoy more great, high-quality content faster. There are many streaming products on the Net: music, videos, animations and more.

What is Video Compression?

In order to deliver quality video over the Internet, digitized video clips are compressed using custom software. These video files start out so big that downloading them would take many hours, even on a high-speed connection. Compression decreases the file size, allowing for a reasonable amount of download time or streaming capability.
